...certain buildings were being torn down on Wisconsin Avenue to make way for the Grand Avenue Mall.
In the late summer of 1980, I ventured down to the ecavation and shot this, through excessive heat, humidity, and over-bearing mosquitoes.
This was on the western wall of the Woolworth building, depicting a time long gone, even then.

Sad, soooooo sad. In the 80s I lived just a short block away...and shopped the Grand Avenue many times...until the black gangs took it over.
