Carothers had been one of his staunchest supporters
“It’s very sad,” Daley said today.
“All public officials — whether appointed or elected — have public trust. You have a responsibility of handling the public money, hard-earned taxpayers’ money. And it’s very disheartening to see what he pled to.”
Asked whether the plea jibes with the Carothers he knew, Daley said, “You don’t know. No one could figure this out. It’s really sad. It’s not only sad for a family but sad for the taxpayers as well.”
