She was known as 'the grande dame' of television because she was the first to use the three-camera approach to capturing images. For this, I shall always admire her (as head of Desilu Productions).
Though she could appear to be 'ditzy', Lucille Ball ran one of the most succesful production companies in the world. Far more experience in business than Barky has ever, or could hope to, have had!
I wonder if Barky Obama (the fat-lipped) and his furry-caterpillared-eyed wifey can possibly understand...because most of what Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz DID was before their time...and neither of them seem to know of, or even want to understand, the history of the United States of America.

What we need, any time of the year, but especially now!
I have always admired and LOVED LUCY, haven't you?
In light of how the Obama administration seems to be removing our freedoms, I will continue throught this month to emphasize "CHRISTMAS", and not call this time the oh-soooo-PC "holidays".
Lucy never had a great singing voice (she admitted it), but I think her joie de vivre shows capitally here. I am sorry she is no longer here, physically, but she lives on in kinescope, film, and videotape!
Just a note: "Mame", starring Gretchen Wyler, was the first show I put together, in under two weeks, at the old Melody Top theatre in Milwaukee back in 1979. I had been hired as Assistant Designer to Stuart Bishop. And I was painting scenery for Act II when Act I was happening on stage.
A most delightful show, and a most delightful time in my life!

He played one on TV, and now actor Chuck Norris is going to become an honorary Texas Ranger on Thursday.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry will present commemorative certificates to Norris and his brother, Aaron Norris, for their work on the series, "Walker, Texas Ranger," which aired from 1993 to 2001.

Teen's boyfriend charged in Morgan Park triple slayingThe boyfriend of a teen slain Monday along with her mother and younger sister was charged this morning with three counts of first-degree murder, officials said.
Denzel Pittman, 18, of the 100 block of Westwood in Park Forest, was charged this morning in the stabbing deaths of his girlfriend Jade Hannah, 17, her mother Stacy Cochran-Hill, 43, and younger sister Joi Cochran, 11, police said.
The three were found dead with multiple stab wounds late Monday night in their Morgan Park apartment in a large courtyard building in the 11100 block of South Bell Avenue.

According to Park Forest police records, Pittman was charged as a juvenile earlier this year with domestic battery for allegedly beating Jade at his Park Forest home.
Three months later in June, Pittman was shot in the hip by Park Forest police after he allegedly refused to drop a gun, police said. Reports said officers responded to a report of a teen with a handgun threatening people at the Park Forest Aqua Center.
Henry Hill, Cochran-Hill's estranged husband and Joi's father, said police told him Pittman had been at the family's apartment before the slaying.
Pittman is scheduled to appear in bond court later today.

Sources: 19-year-old burglar killed cops to hide theft
Free on parole, convicted armed robber Timothy Herring Jr. was determined not to go back to prison.
So when the 19-year-old sneaked back Friday to the scene of a burglary he’d committed hours earlier and overheard veteran police officer and evidence technician Michael Flisk say “I’ve got a good fingerprint,” he acted in the coldest of blood, law enforcement sources said.
Armed with a handgun and wearing an electronic tracking bracelet on his ankle, Herring crept up on Flisk and former CHA police officer Stephen Peters in the alley on the 8100 block of South Burnham and shot both men dead, it’s alleged.
Prosecutors charged him with the first degree murder of both men Monday, marking the end of a 72-hour round-the-clock effort to find justice for Peters and Flisk, the fifth Chicago cop murdered this year.
Flisk’s fellow officers “worked non-stop, even in the face of extreme grief,” Supt. Jody Weis said as he announced the charges against Herring and an alleged accomplice, Timothy Willis, who’s charged with unlawful use of a weapon and is accused of helping Herring cover up the murders.
“All of Chicago owes them a debt of gratitude as they helped get a killer off the streets,” Weis said.

RIP Officer Michael Flisk, CPD and Mr. Stephen Peters
So it goes like this?Some nutcase who thinks they are entitled to everything decides to shoot a Chicago police officer in cold blood? And...another man, Stephen Peters, who was a retired CHA officer and former suburban cop?
I hope and pray this person is found soon, and strung up by their nether region!
We lost SWAT officer David Blake earlier in the week, but apparently that wasn't enough for these animals on the South side of Chicago.
Oh,...and no outrage yet from retiring Chicago "Crime Boss", Mayor Dick'em Daley! Guess the tryptophan from eating too much turkey put him to sleep, huh?
My condolences to both the Flisk and Blake families, and also to Mr. Peters family.
Now, guys and gals, get out there and find that dirty SOB!
'Tis the Season...well, almost!
Fourteen years ago today, my younger son perished in an automobile crash in Poland, where he was working on redesigning a pollution control system there.
This year, I resolved to keep myself busier than usual to avoid that still-deep wound and the morose, depressed feeling.
This is my window valance, which is normally just the vine hat and the faux branches I made several years ago from wire, kraft paper, flexible glue and floral tape. I painted them to look like copper with a patina.
I added gilded pears, small red balls had-painted with copper glitter dots, gold-brushed pine cones and a pleated coppery red ribbon. The large russet thing is a piece of all-natural fiber paper, which dims the glare when I am at my computer.
Next are my two 30" double-sided wreaths that I change every two years.
Red and green lights, red ornaments (some customized with thin gold ribbon), some glittery fronds, gold-brushed pine cones and a gold and red pleated ribbon.
Blue lights with silver balls, silver glitter branches, a faux crystal and silver bead garland, and an elegant silver-edged gossamer ribbon.
Though my hands do not accomplish this work as quickly as even 5 years ago, I am thankful to the Creator for granting me all sorts of artistic and technical talents!
As Christmas gets closer, I'll show you more of the smaller wreaths I'll be giving to nursing home residents. I now have a dozen finished, and hope to do a dozen (or so) more in the next two weeks. I'm hoping they'll bring some cheer to those who have no family.
