Obama bemoans 'diversions' of IPod, Xbox era

(Because HE might not understand them??? But he gave an iPOD to the QUEEN?)

HAMPTON, Virginia — US President Barack Obama lamented Sunday that in the iPad and Xbox era, information had become a diversion that was imposing new strains on democracy, in his latest critique of modern media.

Obama, who often chides journalists and cable news outlets for obsessing with political horse race coverage rather than serious issues, told a class of graduating university students that education was the key to progress.

"You're coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don't always rank all that high on the truth meter," Obama said at Hampton University, Virginia.

What he is saying to you, the 2010 graduates, is that he does not want you, even though you're trying to find a job, to get in the way of his 'job numbers'.

DON'T use your brain to become successful. Just listen to him (and Michelle) and everything will be OK, right?

"With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, -- none of which I know how to work

(You mean, all the time you spend with your daughters, and they haven't taught you a THING)

-- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation," Obama said.

(But, didn't he gift the Queen of England with an iPod? Chew on that for a bit!)

He bemoaned the fact that "some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction," in the clamor of certain blogs and talk radio outlets."All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy."

Obama, who uses the handful of Commencement addresses that he delivers each year to meditate on societal developments broader than the minutiae of everyday politics, warned the world was at a moment of "breathtaking change."

(So he is planning on becoming the first MARXIST DICTATOR of the United States?).

"We can't stop these changes... but we can adapt to them," Obama said, adding that US workers were in a battle with well-educated foreign workers.

NO, WE CANNOT, AND WILL NOT, AND SHALL NOT!

"Education... can fortify you, as it did earlier generations, to meet the tests of your own time," he said.

Hampton University is a (n--grammar!) historically black college, and Obama noted the huge disparity in educational achievement between African Americans and other racial groups in the United States and the world.

(And Obama is NOT historically BLACK, but is what is known as 'MULATTO', the combination of black and white--as an artist, I would call that GRAY!).

But he urged the graduates to take inspiration from the example of Dorothy Height, a civil and women's rights icon who died, aged 98, last month, who fought racial prejudice to secure a college education.

"A black woman, in 1929, refusing to be denied her dream of a college education," Obama said, reprising Height's life story."Refusing to be denied her rights, refusing to be denied her dignity, refusing to be denied... her piece of America's promise."

(Has he given a rat's bum about Dorothy Height, ever, since he gained the White House? And what the hell does he really KNOW and UNDERSTAND about America, PERIOD?).

Obama argued that from the days of the pioneer politicians who founded the United States, until the modern day, education and knowledge had been the key to progress and US democracy.

He drew a line between Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, and today's challenges.

"What Jefferson recognized... that in the long run, their improbable experiment -- called America -- wouldn't work if its citizens were uninformed, if its citizens were apathetic, if its citizens checked out, and left democracy to those who didn't have the best interests of all the people at heart.

(Well, Barry Soetoro, many of us ARE informed, and last time we 'checked it out', it was a REPUBLIC, A$$hat!)

"It could only work if each of us stayed informed and engaged, if we held our government accountable, if we fulfilled the obligations of citizenship."

In my last post, I told you about DEATH. Now, I'll give you a bit of information about CRIME in my area of Chicago, ROGERS PARK, which my debtee, Bill Morton, the President of the Rogers Park Chamber of Commerce, PREFERS, apparently, to 'gloss over'.

I may also say, the following list of crimes QUITE PROVES that the police (CPD) are working at their job, quite unlike the alderman of the 49th, Joe Moore, and, I might add, Bill Morton.

What really have Joe Moore or Rogers Park Chamber of Commerce done so far this year to make Rogers Park a better place for you to do business? Hmmm?

I really do expect an answer, but moreso, I expect some sort of repayment of the $1,425 I loaned Bill Morton last year...that he seems to conveniently have forgotten.

But, as long as I live, I will make his name
known in Chicago as a
'grifter', a 'stiffer on loans'!

A scent of death...

...permeates my lungs and the hallways of the building in which I live.

I am burning incense, as are other tenants, to relieve us of the smell of death.

The woman who lived across the hall from her did not understand the smell, after apparently almost a week.

I, who live three floors above, did not perceive the odor of death until today, because I have not been out of my apartment for several days.

Now, it remains with me...it is not 'sweet and cloying' as has been described in novels.

It is RANK and EARTHY and FOUL!

And yet, it is the odor left by a young woman, and there is not much known about her, as she apparently moved into the building only a bit more than a month ago.

I know her first name, but not her last. I don't know that I ever even saw her.

But she, this young woman, is now dead. She was 'white', but she is now, as my policeman friend described her, quite 'black'--meaning she has been dead for quite a number of days.

From observing the 'plainclothes' police who were in and out this afternoon, I would like to say this may be a homicide.

If, in fact, it is, I hope they get whomever did this and string that person up on the 'Picasso' downtown!

Somehow, I think Pablo would appreciate that!

If I had known her, I could express some immediate grief.

But I did not know her.

To her family, if they exist: My profound sympathies to you upon the death of your daughter.

That is all.

UPDATE:

My guest tonight was just escorted out.

As I opened the door, the odor of death forced its way into our lungs. It is still here, the odor of death.

A scar, cut ACROSS the veins...hmmm, hmmm, hmmm.

Looks like a suicide attempt by a very inept person which, of course, Mrs. Obama is. It's called Affirmative Action, bay-bay, and I'd like to know why this scar exists. Wouldn't you?

Afghanistan is, as of March, 2008, the greatest illicit opium producer in the world, ahead of Burma (Myanmar) and the "Golden Triangle".

Afghanistan is the main producer of opium in "Golden Crescent".

Opium production in Afghanistan has been on the rise since the downfall of the Taliban in 2001.

Based on UNODC data, there has been more opium poppy cultivation in each of the past four growing seasons (2004–2007) than in any one year during Taliban rule.

Also, more land is now used for opium in Afghanistan, than for coca cultivation in Latin America.

In addition to opiates, Afghanistan is also the largest producer of hashish in the world.
